The Path of Vikings is a website with the goal of promoting the significance of the vikings in danish history, to attract a greater amount of viking tourism.

with focus on making viking tourism a more authentic experience, we created two different segments on the site to help tourists feel more primal and strong. An experience collection and an interactive clan war site.

these two segments are connected with a frontpage, opening up the viking universe with atmospheric pictures, videos and a constant low-key soundscape representative of what the user is currently looking at.

CLAN WAR SITE

On the clan war site, the tourists are able to enter a clan and follow the development of that clan in the country.

There are four clans, Freya, Loki, Thor and Odin, when logged in to the site, you will be able to choose one of these. When visiting one of the selected viking attractions in Denmark, you can check in your smartphone once a day to give a point to your clan on that particular attraction. The total number of points for the clan in that area of the country, decides its standing against the other three clans, and the leading clan will be the owner of that area. In that way the tourists themselves are able to recreate the battle for power that happened in part of the viking age.

when coming home from vacation, the tourist will be able to visit the clan site and follow the standings of their clan, making the experience last beyond the visit itself.

EXPERIENCE COLLECTION SITE

On the experience collection site we have created a way to browse the different viking experiences to be had. The user will be able to go through the different disciplines and choose the one they would like to try, the site will then find all the locations in Denmark where they can find and try that discipline. The disciplines range from cooking to smithing and horse riding. When visiting any of the attractions from the experience site, The user will be able to gather points for their clan.
